Top 10 Korean Variety Show(my list)

1.Infinite challenge
Infinite challenge is recognized as the first "Real-Variety" show in Korean television history. It has great influence not only in south Korea but also in east Asia, or maybe worldwide. Basically, as the name indicated, each episode, members try to do various challenge like taxi driver, cleaner, singers,or even international delivery which went to as far as Africa and south polar. In more than 10 years time, members changed a lot, but it still keeps its spirit and keeps challenging. The best episodes are song festivals broadcasting every two years, rowing specials as well as international delivery specials.

2.2 days and 1night

2 days and 1night takes casts to various tourist destinations throughout South Korea. Now it is season 3 and the cast are totally different with former 2 seasons. Only the right first guy is in the show for 10 years. On one hand, we can tour with cast around South Korea and on the hand, we can get to know various foods in South Korea. Apart from all these, the games are quite interesting and Bok-bul-bok Game (or "luck or not") is definitely amusing.

3.running man

This used to be my favourite show in South Korea, but recently, it becomes boring and some rumors  definitely destroy its images. One of the original cast, Kang Gary left last year, but still, I love all the members. Nametag tearing battles are the most exciting games ever.  But now, all I hope is that it can end.

4.Radio star

Radio star is a talk show and each episode has 4-5 guests talking about interesting personal stories. Each host has his own personality and "character" in the show, so the hosts play an important role in asking questions and teasing the guests. Of course, the guests are also very important. As a matter of fact, the guests determine the quality of each episode.

5.I live alone
The ideal behind the show is genius. Basically, the show is broadcasting how the single celebrity spends each day. You may think of it boring, but surprisingly,  you can't help keeping watching even though it's just the normal life as you and me.

6.Three meals a day
This show is a little different as the shows talked before. This one is not a regular program broadcasted weekly. This is produced by season including about 15 episodes as American drama, so there is a rest time between each season. The show is basically how 2-4 celebrities living in countryside cooking and harvesting. It has two different base camp: fishing village and normal village in land.

7. Show me the money

This show has the same broadcasting format as  《three meals a day》。This one is like "the voice", but the competition is between rappers rather than ordinary vocalists.  So the competition is pretty fierce and it has great influences among youngsters. Season 5 is my favourite and this show inspires a lot of young adults.

8.Please refrigerator

This is a cooking program that brings celebrities' refrigerator on-site and uses the ingredients in the refrigerator to cook for the guests. Basically, celebrities tell chefs what they want to eat and two chefs competes for the badge within 15 mins. It's a good show to learn how to cook in 15 mins, but in fact, chefs can do in 15, but we can't.

9.Weekly idol

Yes, this is a show that can be invited only if you are an idol. So this is a show for teenagers and young adults. I haven't watched this show for quite a long time as I've reached an age that knows nothing about those new idols.

10. Non-summit talks

The casts are from different countries talking about culture. Each episode comes up with a topic and they talk about their opinions. It's a good way to know the cultural and educational difference between different countries. But in my view,  it's more like personal differences rather than culture

What is authentic Chinese hot and sour soup dumpling(suantang shuijiao)

Today I went to dumpling house for lunch with my friend. I ordered a beef noodle soup and she had a Chinese hot and sour dumpling soup. However,  we were totally surprised by the dumpling soup when it came. It was basically adding dumplings to American version hot spicy and sour soup. Speaking of hot spicy and sour soup, it was barely mentioned in articles on  "Chinese Dishes That Real Chinese People Don't Eat", but I have to say the overseas version is really different with the authentic Chinese version. Nevertheless, this is not today's topic. Before talking about  authentic Chinese hot and sour dumpling soup(suantang shuijiao), let's have a look at comparison of two dishes. Authentic Chinese hot and sour soup dumpling (suantang shuijiao) The version in dumpling house As a matter of fact,  Chinese hot and sour soup dumpling is popular in Xi'an, capital city of Shanxi Province, China. This actually can be easily made at home.  ...

China version Apps and websites-part 1

As some may know, Chinese government implements very  Internet censorship. As a matter of fact, websites like Facebook and twitter are not allowed to log in and this actually stimulate China's version of those famous apps and websites. Let's have a look at several most well-known ones. 1. WEIBO(微博)-TWITTER Weibo is one of the most popular social media in China. Like twitter, it is a place to share personal opinion but restricted within 140 characteristics.  Weibo actually witnessed a lot of famous “events" like "see you in Monday" of Chinese entertainment industry. Now twitter is suffering from decline users and revenue, but Weibo seems doing well in China. 2. Youku (优酷)-- YOUTUBE Like youtube, Youku is a platform to share videos. However, Youku is more like a warehouse to store videos. By now, it produces self-made TV shows and series like Netflix, but hasn't found a way to foster its own "youkuer". It actually faces fierce co...

China translates all the foreign brands I

As someone may know, the first thing that international brands do to enter China's market is to name themselves Chinese version names. It turned out that some of them really did a great job on naming and let's have a look at some famous brands and their names in China. 1.coca cola(可口可乐) The translation is actually very good. The Chinese version sounds like the original one and it even conveys the idea that one drink can make people happy.  2.pepsi(百事可乐) Since Pepsi is a kind of coke, in the four-letter translation, the last two letters are the same meaning happy. But Pepsi did a even better job by saying that one drink can make everything going well. 3. Mcdonalds(麦当劳)                               Mcdonalds did worst than KFC in localisation, so it has less stores than KFC in China. The translation has no special meaning. As a matter of fact, it just sounds like a foreigner name. 4....
